I have covid at the moment and whilst I'm not holed up in my bedroom, I'm staying away from my family more than usual (teenagers in their rooms most of the time anyway!) as I would if I had a stomach bug or flu. I would doubt I'm very contagious now - day 7 and the faintest of faint lines on a test. I look after MIL part of the time, hence the testing and wont go to see her until I'm 100% clear. Usual handwashing etc but it's struck me how different attitudes are from different people: one friend is horrified that I would venture out of my room at all, while another doesn't understand why I'm not going to the cinema with her tonight. What about you?

What you have to remember is that a lot of people lose pay if off sick. I get you don't want them around you if they have a cold, however if they take off a couple of days for something that doesn't stop them working, that might be them not being paid and SSP is peanuts. You don't know everyone's situation.

I have a critically vulnerable person in the household.
It's still serious for us.
The global emergency might be over, but the pandemic isn't. It's not just a cold or flu - look at the latest studies on cardiovascular, neurological and immune system damage, and on the rising numbers with debilitating long covid (about 10% per infection, so if everyone is getting it a couple of times a year, that's really going to add up and the economic damage of higher sick absences or people leaving the workforce completely is beginning to make itself known)
I need to do my best to stay off the covid merry-go-round to protect my family. But I think even without that as a factor, I'd not want to keep catching it. So yes, I hope people do comply with the advice to stay home if you have it (or think you have it if you don't test) unless it is essential, but when you do go out, mitigate.
And generally, I'd like to see better ventilation, and air filtration systems becoming the norm.
And masks required in all clinical settings

For all.those saying they would test and isolate + (and patting themselves on the back ) I assume you all.have a cosy work from home job or very understanding employers who will pay you your wage if you are off sick.with Covid ?

To be fair, for every person you may feel is 'patting themselves on the back' for testing/isolating, you will see someone else 'patting themselves on the back' for telling everyone they went to Wimbledon with covid or something. Arseholery seems to work both ways.

But people need to.realise why others are not able to.just isolate themselves with Covid anymore ,its not always because they are selfish .
No, but there are a fair few people on this thread who are blase about their behaviour when unwell - looking down on those who test or isolate.
