Cambridgeshire, just off the motorway

We're coming up the A1M tomorrow from London and would like to stop off somewhere around the Cambridgeshire section of the motorway for the children to stretch their legs. We could perhaps push on to Linconshire way. Any recommendations please? Needs gardens / playground and coffee facilities. Ideally loos but we can manage. No more than 5-10 mins off the motorway. Happy with "a really nice services". Any recommendations please? Thanks in advance 👍

If you can push on as far as Grantham, you’re maybe 10 minutes from Belton House, which is National Trust and has a brilliant playground. Between Grantham and Peterborough, there’s also Woolsthorpe Manor (Isaac Newton’s house) but not sure how far from the A1 it is.

If it needs to be closer to Peterborough, then Peterborough services is part of the Extra chain and has a McDonalds, pizza place, KFC, M&S, etc.

Thanks all - fab suggestions. Think we'll aim for Ferry Meadows. Pray to the gods of traffic and baby sleep for us!

Stamford is nicer than Peterborough, you can park for free at Burliegh house and walk round the grounds. There are toilets, a cafe etc

Up to five minutes off, north to south

Second vote for Burghley, Stamford. Nice cafe, beautiful grounds, free to walk in. Pay to enter gardens and play area

Sacrewell farm, North Peterborough - you can get in the cafe for free but it's pay to enter the farm. Amazing soft play

Ferry meadows. Haven't been in ages but heard it has a big playground upgrade recently

Hinchingbrooke country park in Huntington - run off the A1 at Brampton. Cafe is not special but cheap parking and good play areas

Grafham water, west of A1 at Buckden. Cafe and play areas alright, lots of good walking

Can you tell I've also done this journey a few times? 😅

Just came back to say thanks very much for all of these. Ferry Meadows was perfectly timed and we had a great hour and a half before getting back on the road. I'm sure we'll need the other suggestions in time.
