Woke up this morning to find a cat sleeping on my bed. I don't have a cat!

There is a whole lot of videos on YouTube devoted to “My house, not my cat” and “My cat, not my house”.

onefinemess · 09/07/2023 14:43

Most cats have several "owners", in reality the cats are just commuting between food bowls and back scratches.

Think about it, unlike dogs, almost nobody goes out and buys a kitten or a cat, they just show up randomly your windowsill.

NEVER rub a cat's belly, even if they let you, the devious bastards are just setting you up for a clawing!

Dh and we're returning from a meal out. When we opened the door next doors cat came strolling up the hall. Nor sure how he got in. Their next cat used to visit us as well. He actually came into our bedroom through the open window early one morning before we got up. It semi woke me but wasn't sure what had happened. While dh was getting breakfast I checked under the wardrobe and he was crouched under it.

I once had a ginger boy who liked going next door. He ate their cat's food , killed the rubber gloves in the kitchen and took great delight in pulling all the tissues out of the box and scattering them around! Worst thing he ever did was go into next doors bathroom when neighbour was in the bath, hop up onto the washbasin and have a pee!

That is brilliant! Especially him peeing in the sink. Sounds like a really clever boy.

PickledMuffin · 09/07/2023 16:21

reminds me of that scene in Meet the Parents when the cat uses the toilet!

Ahh the universal cat distribution at work again. Congrats on the new cat!

DanceMumTaxi · 09/07/2023 16:43

Cats are so bold aren’t they 😂

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 09/07/2023 17:09

When my brothers were little, they had lots of soft toys on their beds. One day my mum was putting away clothes in their room and one of the soft toys moved! Turns out next door's cat had wandered in the open patio doors, made his way upstairs, and gone to sleep amongst the soft toys!

TheChosenTwo · 09/07/2023 17:11

Oh my god I’d be fuming 😂😂😂
Bloody hate cats and I chase them out of my garden if I’m in it and one jumps in!!

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 09/07/2023 17:21

I love cats though don’t have one but we now have a semi-resident new nextdoor cat who we named ‘the lion’ as he’s a rather large semi long-haired ginger who looks as if he has a mane. His chief activities include having staring competitions with the squirrels.

Our former house guest was little black & white female (whose ‘servants’ have now moved) who used to come into our house and roam about like she owned the place, eating literally anything lying about. She once licked the entire topping from a cake. But you cannot be cross, because..well - they’re cats.

SoShallINever · 09/07/2023 17:26

Our cat goes next door and sits on the side of their hot tub watching them 😂.

ChristmasKraken · 09/07/2023 17:29

I've been sat in the garden and looked up at our house to see a lovely cat face looking out of our bedroom window... Not my cat though..! And once dh and I were sat watching TV one evening and a cat we don't own came sauntering down the stairs and went and miaowed at the door to be let out... No idea how long he'd been up there (and we have two cats of our own who hadn't mentioned it!)

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 09/07/2023 10:31

You do now. Keep it. It's not its owner cares about the cat is they let it out so it can get lost.

Don’t be ridiculous. Letting a cat outside doesn’t mean that you don’t care about it.

Theunamedcat · 09/07/2023 18:08

I took a nap one day woke up to find my cats and several not my cats had joined me in my nap

ALongHardWinter · 09/07/2023 18:11

I read a funny story on Reddit a few months ago. A guy had moved to a new area, with a pub a few doors down from him. He didn't go in this pub until he'd lived there for about a year. He thought it give it a try one day,and after sitting down with his drink the 'pub cat' appeared. It was his cat. 😂😂😂

PickledMuffin · 09/07/2023 21:33

Here she is. she generally appears after the children have gone to bed (who cam blame her!)

Well that was strange

My dd is currently being verbally abused and via notes because her dcats are going in neighbour's houses. The ndn feeds them daily despite dd asking her not to. Then now she is kicking off she can't leave her door open. Be careful you don't start any bother for yourself op..

PickledMuffin · 09/07/2023 21:39

thanks for that. the owners know she comes to see us, and we are wouldn't try and keep her. if she try's to stay any other nights we'd let them know to try and mitigate any worry.

Ime dcat sharing is fine. Dd's ndn is becoming very nasty sadly.
