I’m finding it’s out of stock everywhere and I’m keen to get started. Are there waiting lists? Does anyone have any advice?

If you're type 2 diabetic then your medication should be already being monitored by your GP. I would suggest that you speak with him/her to discuss your medical needs.

It's the off label prescriptions for non-diabetics seeking easy weight loss that is causing a shortage for those who genuinely need it.

Are you T2D?

If not, try the following

Intermittent fasting
Mediterranean diet
Cut out UPF and all forms of sugar (including alcohol)
Eat lots of vegetables and moderate amounts of lean protein
Exercise☆

☆ lots of trainers on YouTube but these are my favourites:

Lucy Wyndham Read for beginners
Rebecca Louise if you are up for something more energetic
Popsugar Fitness for a variety of fun workouts
Fitness Blender if you want to commit to a more serious approach to getting fit and learn the right way/ensure good form
Caroline Girvan if you really want to get fit

Assuming you’re looking for it because you are Type 2 diabetic and have been prescribed it by your GP? They’ll be able to advise you where to get it - or look to prescribe an appropriate alternative which is available.

Yes out of stock everywhere
try saxenda

Wegovy should come to the Uk at some
point this year.

Massive shortage due to people buying it online instead of getting it prescribed for what it's meant for

As a type 2 on Victoza (another brand) I have been told by my diabetic nurse that there is a good chance I'll have to go to something else as stock for NHS is at critical levels.

Non diabetics using it for weight loss. Should be ringfenced for NHS

Also I can drop off DC2 earlier but I can’t park close to DC1 school and have to walk back after breakfast club drop-off. Realistically I won’t be at her house before 8am anyway.

LiloP · 09/07/2023 08:05

sorry wrong thread 🙈

Teddypops · 09/07/2023 08:05

Not worth it as you can't buy it.

Massive shortages and huge price hikes.

Try Saxenda?

Bearthepooh · 09/07/2023 08:45

My dad had this prescribed for his diabetes and the NHS had to stop him 2 months ago due to shortages. Apparently his GP now can't get it until next year so been put on something else which isn't controlling his levels as well. Absolute shambles the public has been allowed to use.

KenAdams · 09/07/2023 08:52

What do you need it for?

flotsomandjetsome · 09/07/2023 09:06

As others have said, I have T2 Diabetes and have been told I will not be able to my prescription until 'mid 2024' due to supply issues - of all GLP-1 medications.

I have to wait another 2 weeks for an appointment to try and find an alternative. GP / Diabetic nurse / Practice Pharmacist are tearing there hair out trying to find alternatives for ALL the patients effected.

But hey, as long as those buying in online look fantastic in a bikini then that's ok isn't it 🤬
