Is there anyone who can clarify this for me, I have tried asking my council and other councils multiple times but keep getting told different answers and I don’t know who to ask.
Following a section 21 I am trying really hard to find a private property before they end up putting me and my baby into temporary. The council are helping pay towards the deposit which is a maximum of £1296 - which is the LHA for a 2 bed in my borough.
Every private 2 bed property they have referred me to has one bedroom and one living room, or one bedroom and an open plan kitchen/living room.
The last I was told a couple of days ago, is that it is not possible for housing benefit to pay the 2 bed allowance for a 1 bed property (one bed one living room). That’s fine but when I found a property they told the landlord her one bed one living room would not be possible under the 2 bed allowance unless I paid the difference because it is a 1 bed.
I hope it makes sense it’s so confusing but this confuses my property search so much. The same lady from the council who told the landlord this literally told me it was possible that same morning then backtracked which is what they keep doing to me.
Hope someone out there is able to clarify what is happening or am I missing something here!
