What films do you watch when you want to leave your brain at the door?

Sometimes I just want to watch nonsense and for me, you can't beat a good old disaster movie. If I'm feeling a bit fed up (like I am today, thanks covid) give me The Towering Inferno or The Poseidon Adventure and I'm happy as a clam. Watched 2012 this afternoon. Man, that was utter shite and I feel I may have to trawl Netflix shortly for something else.

What are your preferences for 'no think watching' as my DS calls it?

MeinKraft · 08/07/2023 19:52

Kevin and Perry Go Large or one of the Sex And The City movies.

AnxiousShep · 08/07/2023 19:59

Any Star Trek, marvel and potter films. But my most watched is Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol.

WhatADrabCarpet · 08/07/2023 20:02

Embarrassed to say, ' Carry On ' films.

I know they're dated and stereotypical but they make me giggle and I don't have to think about my woes.

The one with Reese Witherspoon and the Bloke who makes glass out of lightning and sand.

BarelyLiterate · 08/07/2023 20:07

Any James Bond film. The Roger Moore era ones are particularly silly.

HRTQueen · 08/07/2023 20:07

When Harry Met Sally

TwigTheWonderKid · 08/07/2023 20:14

Usually something from the 50s or 60s, ideally with with Cary Grant, Doris Day, Rock Hudson, Audrey Hepburn etc. Anything from North by Northwest to How to Marry a Millionaire.

Notthecarwashagain · 08/07/2023 20:16

Both sound right up my street. Settled on The Core for tonight. Hilary Swank is just about to drill to the earth's core to save mankind and so that everyone isn't microwaved. Awesome.

Just googled The Happening. Looks appalling so it's right up my street. 😂

I will also watch any old shite with Jason Statham in it too. Marvellous.
