Erm....retaining water after a shower. TMI for some possibly.

Not a troll. Have been on MN for 15 years.

No history of any kind of any kind of continence issues either pre or post DC (barring one ill-advised trip to a trampoline park). No pelvic floor issues. No issues or changes with sex/tightness.

For the last month or so I've noticed I've been retaining water from the shower 😳.

I've taken to having a good old squat and a shimmy before getting out but it still seems to be happening. I'll be drying off/getting dressed and 💦.

Am 43. Wee bit overweight but nothing major (BMI 28 size 14). Periods have gone weird recently so am assuming I'm now peri.

Could this be related? Has anyone experienced similar?

Mortified 😫

I can't imagine how water can be getting up there???

Niftyswiftie · 08/07/2023 13:33

How is water getting up there? I can understand in a bath but how for a shower?

JobzaGoodun · 08/07/2023 13:36

Are you practicing handstands in there?!

I used to get this after swimming.

Are you doing your pelvic floor exercises?

WhatFreshHellBeThis · 08/07/2023 13:42

I'm putting my legs up on the side of the bath to shave them but that's as athletic as it gets 😂

I understand it isn't logical but it's definitely happening. So strange. I've never done pelvic floor exercises in my life but looks like it might be time to start.

Getting older is a privilege yada yada but boy it's an unglamorous one sometimes 😭.

I'm trying to work out how you get water up that. Unless your aiming the shower head at your bits Blush but I have a lot of baths and this doesn't happen so maybe it's just wee Hmm

IknowYouButIdontLikeYou · 08/07/2023 14:04

It's not water, it's urine Grin. You're obviously not emptying your bladder fully first. No need to worry.

Curiouscarla · 08/07/2023 14:08

It's not possible Your bits don't have suction.

Superfood · 08/07/2023 14:09

No woman would think this was possible.

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 08/07/2023 14:11

I would visit the Dr op. I rinse well and have never had this issue.

Onthelow · 08/07/2023 14:13

That’s a weird way to shave your legs. That must be how you are catching the water 😐

Stand up to shave!!

Onthelow · 08/07/2023 14:14

Well if I’ve understood it right. Otherwise it’s impossible.

JudgeAnderson · 08/07/2023 14:18

I'm not sure how... I do aim the shower head right at my bits and I still don't get water up there.

The op IS standing, in the shower. She presumably has a shower over the bath and puts her foot up on the edge to shave her legs.

What on earth were you imagining?

Is that weird!?! I do it like that!

Tinysoxx · 08/07/2023 14:23

Try and catch the water next time in a container and check it’s not wee.

SomethingNastyInTheGenePool · 08/07/2023 14:46

I used to - ahem - fill up with water after a bath or swimming. This was a few years back, pre-DC. Being more consistent with pelvic floor exercises fixed it.

immergeradeaus · 08/07/2023 14:50

But… but… physics!

You see, gravity doesn’t pull the water in that direction. Wtf?

Seeline · 08/07/2023 14:50

You haven't left a tampon in by mistake?

Kimii · 08/07/2023 14:57

Impossible.

Weird thread but we all know why.

Ladyoftheknight · 08/07/2023 15:32

Pelvic floor exercises- try to do a few mins a day for a week and see if it changes anything. If not, speak to GP as it could be a fixible issue

Catsanfan · 08/07/2023 15:39

I have this sometimes in the bath, I think it's because I have a high cervix. I don't think it's anything to worry about
