Driving from Wilmslow to Cornwall

We are going on holiday to Cornwall for a week in the summer holidays. Have a 6 year old and a very lively 3 year old.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to stop off on the way, maybe just after the half way point. For food and a run around mainly so the youngest doesn't go completely crazy.

Also open to any suggestions on when to start the drive and how to break it up etc.

Thank you

The A30 wasn’t the Atlantic Highway, I admit. However, I’ve renamed it now so I’m afraid it’s here to stay. The other road is now going to be called The Watering Hole Road.

We are currently on holiday in St Ives, left Cheshire at 8am Saturday got here around 4.30. As pp mentioned the A30 was moving incredibly slow and probably took about 3 hours of that. Tempted to leave on Saturday at 6am to try and avoid this.

I'd leave earlier than that if I were you, I believe the A30 between Chiverton and Boxheater is going to be closed at the weekend, it's going to be chaos.

Liverpool - leave at 5.00pm Exeter services by 11.00 ish
dismal but needs must - up and out by 8.00am - usually in Mousehole by 10.00am - don’t buy b’fast - Straight to Duke St cafe in Newlyn then to fishmongers - I can’t wait 👍🏿☘️D V

Don't do 4 stops in 6 hours, you'll never get there!

4 would mean you'd extend the journey too much. A "splash and dash" is fine for a six hour journey.
