Are smiggle still overpriced? I bought dsd the lunch bag with backpack and water bottle last year when she was 7 and I was shocked at the £££!

Mindovermatter247 · 07/07/2023 23:26

I think so… dd is going into year 6 and the girls still all love them… pretty sure every single girl in her class has a smiggle lunchbox… I’ve told her next year will be the last as It defo won’t be cool in high school…

MaxwellCat · 07/07/2023 23:36

Do kids at 8 care about what’s “cool?”

Sugarplumfury · 07/07/2023 23:38

Thanks Mindovermatter247. I’ll get myself over to their site.

Twoandcooplease. Yep still overpriced but they do some deals. Certainly not great value for money but it’s something she wouldn’t be bought by her DPs.

Get her what she likes, instead of teaching her to follow the crowd.

Passmethecrisps · 07/07/2023 23:39

They still like them as far as I can tell. But the quality is terrible. My children have had numerous smiggle things and have now given right off them purely because of the disappointment when they very quickly break.

badluckorbadvibes · 07/07/2023 23:40

They sell it In Tesco now

Yes!

Passmethecrisps · 07/07/2023 23:47

I am very impressed @Mumtothreegirlies! I have to be entirely honest that we are not careful owners of things but other lunch boxes including those bought from aldi have lasted when smiggle things have not. The water bottles seem to have been a particularly poor purchase. It’s good that the lunch boxes do last

Paddingtonthebear · 07/07/2023 23:49

Smiggle was completely of favour by end of year 3 here. DD is Y5 now and it’s fondly remembered as a Y2-Y3 thing.

i admit all the Other stuff is rubbish from there but the lunchboxes have been great.

Paddingtonthebear · 07/07/2023 23:54

The pens and the water bottles are rubbish. The squiggle rubbery type bottles got banned at our infants school as they leaked so much but the lunch bags and backpacks did seem to wear well when DD had them in Y2 and then Y3 at juniors. She then moved on to Hype. The lunchbag lasted from Y4 to y5 and the backpack is still fine. Hype no longer coveted here now either tbh but the backpack is still being used as it’s in good condition and does the job.

Cryingbutstilltrying · 08/07/2023 00:00

Dd used her smiggle lunchbox to the end of y6 but absolutely not for y7 and beyond, it’s still in brilliant condition so I use it for work.
Ds is quite happy with his still (y5). No damage at all despite being left out in the rain, with mess in, shoved in a bag etc. I’m happy with the quality.

Backpacks though, I could despair at how rubbish almost all of them are now dd has rejected the Hype one, which was at least a good size and sturdy. Sigh.

Sugarplumfury · 08/07/2023 09:29

Thanks everyone.
. Overpriced Smiggle it is then. I do have to agree that some of the designs DN would really love. And it’s good that they are likely to last through a school year.

Y3-4 is prime smiggle here. Absolute no in y5 onwards.

Our local one has closed down, I wonder if they are in trouble.

Sugarplumfury · 08/07/2023 16:47

cocksstrideinthemorning. I’ve ordered one now, so it’s good to know they’re in with the yr3-4 crowd . Thanks everyone

My youngest has used the lunch bag everyday this year and it looks as good as new.
