Feeling horribly ill, can’t face eating - but…

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 07/07/2023 13:07

I’ve lost four pounds, which takes me over the one stone threshold! Is it wrong to be glad to be ill? 😁

Problem is that you put it back on when you recover.

bellac11 · 07/07/2023 13:33

Food poisoning is the dieters best friend as they say.

You know of course its water weight but it does give people a boost on the scales.

EightyThree · 07/07/2023 13:38

It depends what's making you ill, I suppose.

There's a lady currently on a thread with bile duct cancer who has lost so much weight she can't afford to lose as she's already very slim.

This thread seems in poor taste considering.

Oh ffs. Maybe no one should talk about dieting....or anything else.....because someone has chosen to detail everything about their apparent illness on a separate thread. 🙄🙄🙄

Hereinthismoment · 07/07/2023 13:41

It’s not a given you put it back on. Have to admit I used a bout of food poisoning to diet successfully a few years ago. Hope
you feel better soon @WomanStanleyWoman2 (and ignore the me railer.)

FinallyLeavingDenver · 07/07/2023 13:51

Well said.

It’s probably not the most healthy attitude OP, but presuming it’s a bit tongue in cheek. Presuming it’s something you’ll recover from, food poisoning or something, then if you can find a positive in it, why the hell not. 😅 Hope you feel better soon though.

That's really unfair. I'm sure that the OP had no idea about this poor lady so it would only be in poor taste if it was deliberate.

Mu sister died from bile duct cancer in January last year, and even she would see the funny in this thread!

So shut the fuck up with your idiotic attempt to be woke.

OP, I've had a stomach bug for a week and lost 5lb. Bet it'll all be back on before next weekend though.

ShirleyPhallus · 07/07/2023 13:57

It’ll be water weight and potentially some muscle wastage. So not great.

Eat some protein today if you can manage it!

Gawd.

StellaJohanna · 07/07/2023 14:22

Look it up: for every 4lb you lose, one of those 4lb is muscle. Muscle is very hard to get back once lost, so no, losing "weight" in and of itself is not good and the number on a scale should never be an aim.

bellac11 · 07/07/2023 14:33

But OP is on a diet by the sounds of it, so the weight would come off in any case

If she wasnt, then the muscle loss is more significant obviously

Singleorigincoffee · 07/07/2023 14:44

If you wanted to lose the weight. Then Yay!

If you didn't and you didn't need the weight lost, then boo because muscle wastage. I was this latter, and I lost the glutes I worked so hard for.

Although I agree one post doesn't nullify another, "apparent" is harsh. We've no reason to believe it's not true and if it isn't, does it really affect your life? She isn't asking for money. Not everyone in the world is scamming.

bluesky45 · 07/07/2023 15:14

I had a kidney infection a few weeks ago and lost a few pounds (also dieting). It hasn't gone back on but my weight has plateaued since which is annoying coz I'm still in deficit.

🙄 Oh go away and go over on that thread if you want to talk about it. It’s weird and rude to bring it onto a thread like this.

OP, I once lost about 10lb when I was ill for a few weeks. I put about half back on but kept the other half off. Every cloud and all that.😂

I had only seen the other thread on Trending, but suffice to say, I’m not wishing cancer on myself or anyone else.

I’m aware I’ll probably regain a bit, but passing the one stone barrier was a bit of a psychological boost when I was feeling shit. Thanks for trying to make me feel worse.

Errr I was replying to someone else who brought it to this thread. Christ, having a bad day are we?

I wouldn't worry about it, that post was completely ridiculous. I hope you feel better soon.

🙄 Not having a bad day, no. But, you also tried to carry it on here by what you said. If anyone wants to read that thread, they can go to it.

This is a different posters thread and people are trying to make her feel worse by derailing about something unrelated. It’s completely unfair on OP. Plenty of posters here have said that.

I hope you’re feeling better today OP. And that weight stays off. 🤣

Bellajac · 08/07/2023 10:24

@EightyThree 'apparent illness'? That's actually what I think is in poor taste.

EightyThree · 08/07/2023 10:44

Bellajac Unfortunately there have been a lot of liars over the years, awful but true. Regardless, OP should be able to talk about her illness and weight loss without people trying to make her feel bad that someone else may be suffering.

Enough now, let OP have her thread back now.

Floralnomad · 08/07/2023 10:50

I lost just over 4 stone in 6 months a few years back through illness , I didn’t want to be ill , felt like complete crap but I was quite happy to have lost the weight .
