Half a stone weight loss in one day odema?

I weighed myself at the beginning of the week deciding to go on a diet. I saw myself in a photo at the weekend and I have put so much weight on I'm unrecognisable. I started getting odema about two years ago and put on 2 stone in 3 months.

Had lots of tests on the nhs but nothing seems wrong however a algeries Dr said my kidney function isn't good ( it's within range and anything within range the gp says is fine. Iron just in range, hb1ac of 41 etc).

Only thought about diet yesterday so been eating normal all week. However yesterday I had no tea so as to avoid excess milk. So u stupidly only drank about 1 litre of fluid.

Woke up with a headache. Straw coloured wee but clearly dehydrated a bit. Weighted myself. I lost 7lbs since yesterday

Thoughts? I think my weight is mostly odema. No idea how to tackle this.

Whenever I try to lose weight I can easily lose the first 7 or 8 pounds, because it tends to all be water, and sometimes comes off within a couple of days, or even overnight. After that point it’s a slow slog to lose a pound or so each week. I don’t think it’s unusual to lose half a stone early on that’s all fluid, whether you have odema or not.

Are you asking if all of your excess weight is fluid retention due to oedema?

Otherwise, dropping 7lbs quickly isn't unusual when you reduce your food intake.

If you have oedema you should be able to identify it by pressing around your ankles. Does the skin pit? Check further up your legs too. The skin will dent and stay dented. That’s the quick check my renal doctor does first, anyway.

I can go up and down 5lbs easily from day to day with no reason at all.

As Im losing weight its generally going in the right direction but there can be fluctuations that on the surface look either miraculous or depressing.

In terms of the odema, its a worry your GP says everything is ok but you have spoken to another doctor who says its not? Whats the plan there?

I had terrible swollen ankles and wrists (and bloated face) before I gave up bread and 'wheaty' products, I too apparently have no allergies or anything wrong but I know in myself they cause me issues. I used to get painful joints in my fingers too but that cleared up as well when I gave up those products.

No it's not pitting, it has pitted before but now it doesn't.

I'm waiting for the alergy clinic Dr to call back in October about blood tests from March re kidney function. She was the Dr who said my kidneys are struggling from previous results taken before I saw her
