Anyone ever been to Ronnie Scott’s?

I think it’s somewhere I should go at least once, living so close to London.

Would you recommend the upstairs bar, or downstairs? And are there any acts that are really popular or seen as better than others? I know nothing about jazz, but I like pretty much most music. But if I’m going to go once, I’d like to see the best of what there is.

I’ve been once. We were in the downstairs part. Had a table and watched a live blues band. I’m no jazz / blues expert but they were amazing!

Had table service and felt like I was in the movies (yes, I’m easily pleased!).

Would definitely recommend!

Downstairs is much more upmarket, you get a table and drinks from a waiter, and there are often name bands. It is more expensive, and prices vary depending on who is playing.
Upstairs is much more informal, there are not many seats and you are likely to be standing around the bar. It is generally much cheaper, but because of the informality, the atmosphere is buzzy.
I've been downstairs a few times, didn't know the band but all occasions they were fab. Upstairs, I went for a niche show for a special interest event, so can't say how that relates to what else is on there.

Went a few months ago. I'd always wanted to go and loved it!
We saw the Ronnie Scott Big Band who were great.
I wouldn't particularly recommend the food (quite expensive and not spectacular) but the cocktails were very good.

Great atmosphere. We were downstairs.

Have been roughly 300 times in my life. Love it there.

Downstairs definitely. No specific recommendations - think I have only ever seen one show out of all those times that I would consider bad.

If you fancy something a bit cheesy that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Ray Gelato at Christmas is always a good fun night.

Yes, absolutely love it and go whenever I can if we are in London. You will probably need to book ahead to get a table - you don’t have to dine and the cocktail table service is super. We really enjoy the Sunday lunch slot if we’ve been down in town for a show on a Saturday night.

took 23 y/o ds recently and he said it had been the best part of his weekend trip.

This all sounds brilliant, I will
definitely book for downstairs. Thanks!
