I moved 4 months ago 28 miles to be closer to my parents and have more room. I hate it like absolutely hate it! My best friend lives here and I see them and my parents but still hate it! I hate the road the area everything and desperately want to sell! My husband says we can’t! My teenage boys are split one likes it the other who I thought was going to move out also detests it. What do I do? Sell and lose the money?

What specifically do you hate about it?

Mumof52 · 06/07/2023 20:59

The neighbours, the street, I lived in a new build before which was brand new when we brought it so everything was perfect. This is not perfect and it depresses me so much. I would give anything to get my old house back!

Hi @Mumof52 I'd keep looking for a new home, it will take your mind off hating your current house. Now you know what you don't like that's a good thing, you'll make sure your next home won't have those things.
Hope you find your perfect home soon xx

Thank you! Yes agree I suppose it’s a learning curve albeit an expensive mistake! X

Appreciate this post is a few months old.

You should not live somewhere you are not enjoying life. Your son is a teenager and can choose where to base himself when he’s an adult but for now you need to put your foot down. Don’t allow your husband to force you to stay somewhere you are unhappy. Of course you’re going to lose money by moving again but if you’re not going to get into too much debt, do it. You’re swapping that money to buy your life back. It’s ok, I’ve made the same mistake myself, moving 30 miles to live near family and I hate it. Perhaps it’s more common than we think.

Thank you! I’ve been here 9 months now and still hate it. I honestly have tried but simply cannot stand it. We’ve decorated, skimmed ceilings ect but still I want to go! I feel like crying every day.
I think that’s a great way to look at it by swapping money to get freedom as I actually feel trapped here. Will you also move?
