Yet another passport one !

Anyone sent off a passport recently? We are taking DS friend away with the family for a trip and while his passport is in date it didn't have enough months left on it for where we are heading!
He's 19 so it'll be his first adult passport and he sent it off on Monday ( 3rd). We were hoping to leave on 14th. We've got no chance have we?! It's the height of summer Confused

As an aside, my son got his in 10 days when he renewed in March <sprinkling wishful thinking>

We did DH's renewal online and he posted his old passport back on the 26th. Received his new on yesterday.

@JorisBonson just over a week then! There's hope!!

Keeping everything crossed for you!

Oakbeam · 06/07/2023 09:48

You might be lucky. I got mine back last week. I sent it off the week before.

Oakbeam · 06/07/2023 09:50

Did he tick the box to be notified of the application progress? Mine arrived three days after the approval notification.

warblingwater · 06/07/2023 20:14

I think he did tick the box as he got a message last night saying that they had received his old passport and application underway.

Argh I really want to book but it's so risky!
Looking at pushing back the date to the 18th, any later than that and the ridiculous summer hols prices come into play

I got mine back on the morning of the fourth day after I had the received notification.

HollyFern1110 · 06/07/2023 23:02

Applied for DD 8 days ago. Passport received this afternoon.

cosyblanketsquares · 06/07/2023 23:06

Got mine in 6 days. Online renewal. About a week ago.

SisterWedge · 06/07/2023 23:08

My child's first passport took 16 days BUT was delayed by about 5 days as I had to order and send copies of official docs. I wouldn't book in your shoes though as its very tight.

Wow most of these replies are really encouraging!
Fingers and toes crossed 🤞🏼

In the interest of updating and in case anyone else finds themselves in the same boat, DS friend received his passport this morning.
So that's 9 days from when he sent his old one off!
Woo!
