Where are all the magazines for teenage girls?

Shelves seem to be full of every kind of of magazine except for any for teenagers.
I used to love the magazines like Sugar, Mizz, Just 17 and More. Now they jump straight from sparkle world to Heat.
is there really no market for them because all the 12-16 year olds are on their phones?

Teens today are too absorbed and attached to the cyber world to ever be able to focus on a magazine.

I absolutely loved magazines when I was a teen. Sadly all the teen magazines have gone bust. Now it seems like they don’t want to read anymore. The only want to watch this TikTok rubbish

timefornewme2023 Switch to The Week when The Week Junior no longer appeals. I happily await its arrival by post every Friday and have done for many years now. I got my teens/young adults into it too and now I have to compete with them for who gets first look!

Love this thread (I'm a freelance magazine editor). I'm going to have a chat with DD and see what's she thinks (predictive text just made 'she thinks' into 'what honks') 😂

I am very much looking forward to reading stuff you've edited... when you've left predictive text on by mistake!

My children had read my old Beano annuals and thought the current Beano not too great.

I read Bunty et al until young teens then into Smash Hits and Just Seventeen

Teen Vogue is actually pretty good and has covered some major topics recently very well. It's American but all accessible online and has a UK section too:

(massive lol at Liz Truss being the image for UK tag though)

Basically advertising went online. Magazine’s were no longer profitable.

I actually watched this last night which is along the same lines

I had a magazine addiction as a teenager. I would spend my lunch money on them and couldn’t miss an issue. I remember realising how much of it was marketing as time went on which made me a bit more choosy. J17 was my favourite, followed by Bliss! They were more inspiring and a bit more quirky and colourful than the rest.

My addiction moved online when I realised I could Google all those tempting front cover headlines, get lots of different content and save my money.

We used to take our magazines to school and each other’s houses, swap and borrow them. Our bedrooms were covered in pull-out posters!
