How to trick my brain?

If you find it hard to concentrate on tasks (like studying etc), how do you trick your brain into doing it?

Think of studying as a glorious way that will help you buy that Porsche in future if you put in wirk now. You won't see the results now, but people might envy how well you are doing 5 years from now.

I wish I was motivated by a Porsche! I’m not really. I studied in my youth, but I want to do some retraining for the job I think I’ll enjoy a lot, but I know I am going to struggle with the sitting down and doing essays and exams. I actually wonder if I have adhd!

I like to put some instrumental music on. Preferably something that has a build up to it - I'm enjoying the soundtrack to Interstellar.

If I really need to get going on something, then putting some Boss Mode music on from a computer game can help. Something like Super Mario Bros Grin

I have a fidget or pen to click and listen to music. Make sure you start with the part you will enjoy most and find a reward for yourself once it’s done.

Set mini deadlines. If you are studying at the same time as someone else, schedule sessions together to go over a topic, that will help make you focus as you need to have read it prior to that.

These are good tips! A fidget pen - I like the sound of that! And music!

I also like the sound of deadlines / studying with someone else!

Small chunks and then move between each chunk - say 15 to 20 minutes
