Can you sprain your ankle in bed?

Woke up with a sore ankle- it was sort of weighed down by the throw/a cat. Walked to work (45mins) and now my ankle is huge and I can’t put weight on it :( I got a cab home and have elevated/ibuprofen but I’m a bit baffled as to how I’ve done this?

im quite active, healthy weight etc etc. I’ve been on a diet recently and wondered if I’ve not eaten enough fat or something?!

This happened to me. Same thing I had to come home from work as literally couldn’t walk by midday. It was never confirmed but I believe it was some sort of inflammatory reaction (like a reactive arthritis) as I had the same happen to a finger about a month later. They did eventually find I was vitamin D deficient after some other ongoing joint pain and I went on supplements and it hasn’t happened again. But I thought the same, that I must have done something silly at night and not remembered.

Could it be bursitis? I get it in my knee, but apparently you can get it in your ankle too:

Usual treatment of rest, elevation, icing, ibu profen.

I’d want to rule out a DVT.

I don’t think it’s DVT, it’s like an egg on the joint rather than generalised edema plus I haven’t been sedentary/on a flight/on hormones.

I’ll get some supplements and rest it up I suppose!
