Who designed your tattoo?

I’m thinking of getting a tattoo.

I’ve got an idea in my head of what I want but I can’t draw to save my life. I’ve grabbed some images off google but I want a specific design that I cannot draw.

When you had a tattoo did you design it yourself? Did the tattoo artists draw it out for you before hand? How much does a tattoo design cost (I realise this is a bit of a how long is a piece of string question!)

Please help a novice out!

Tattooist will draw it up for you, provide them with some references and thoughts and they will do the rest. The design is usually in the cost of the tattoo, you would probably lose your deposit of you got a design and then didn't go ahead with the appointment.

I have a small one on my shoulder. It was designed by someone very special to me and means a lot. I did not want a random design from a book. I appreciate that the above may not be particularly helpful in your situation.

I would also suggest when considering where to have a tattoo, avoid areas such as the tummy or boobs as both of these areas can change dramatically with age.

Mine were designed by the tattoo artist, which is how it’s most commonly done- it’s part of the fee. Usually when you contact them to book in, you’ll give an idea of what you want, size and placement. One of mine I had a very specific idea in mind, the other was pretty much just “these elements covering this area, make it pretty please”
