I've not done this in a good while but am single and wondering is it still acceptable? Was it ever?

It was normal when I was growing up. But I grew up in a pretty scummy area.

I'm 42 now so say you saw a woman of that age snogging in a bar - what would you think?

I don't think it is acceptable any more ! Mores the pity ! My DSs are so shocked when I tell them we used to dance with a lad at a disco then snog them in the last dance ! They have to message online for about a month before can find out there's no chemistry whatsoever! I think our way was simpler !

Snogging at the bar: It's uncomfortable and awkward, we want to order and you're swaying from side to side eating each other's face up, yuck
Snogging STRANGERS at the bar: double yuck! You can get gum disease and cavities from swapping bacteria and cold sores. No, not everyone has them already. You can't just grab someone and kiss them, that's assault and you really don't want to be party to a cheating partner or cause grief with a partner who might be watching or friends who might tell the partner. Just hold your horses, everyone! What I hate even more is when non-bisexual non-lesbian women put on a kissing show for men. I don't go to bars, pubs or clubs because I find the environment so gross. Meat market of sin.

Well you must be a right laugh on a night out. Did it loads aged 15- 25. Usually outside the pub though, often up against a wall. Night clubs- fill your boots. Restaurant- yuk. Married for 18 years now ,I should be so lucky.

Saw my neighbour doing exactly this at Christmas in a local bar. She'd had a shitty time of it with an ex and was going for it with a bloke she'd pulled. I thought good for her. I haven't done it for years but I used to love a good snog on a night out.

Myself and DP still snog in bars. Could not give a flying one what anyone thinks.

Well I haven't been single in a long time but it's not at all unusual to still see people hooking up in nightclubs or late bars. I don't pay much attention so I don't know if it's as prevalent as it was when I was young but I have definitely seen plenty people doing it.

I'd think it's one less man to harass me at the bar tbh.

I wouldn't thing anything anything but urgh sharing bodily fluids with a random stranger isn't for me, I think covid has traumatised me!

Because the op is a woman and she’s asked about seeing a woman her age doing it . The answers are predominantly gender neutral though. No one cares if it’s man woman two women two men or anything in between. It’s the same Reaction . Teenagers you just think god I used ti do that and it’s cringe, the middle aged, I’d judge a bit, think it was a bit desperate and it wasn’t exactly classy

I did it recently. I am early 40s an bloke early 50s. It was in a nightclub though, and we didn't care. I was more bothered about the young guy who approached me later and asked if I "needed Angela".

Well jealous.
I'd love to have a night out. A snog at the end of it would be awesome.
