Ankle sprain question

QuestionableMouse · 05/07/2023 01:57

Went over on my ankle at work on the 23rd June. It really hurt and went crack but wasn't too swollen so I've been RICEing it. It's been sore on and off but i can walk mostly okay.

Just turned over in bed and been woken up by how much it hurt - right around the bone and across the top of my food. It's also quite swollen.

Is it worth a minor injuries visit? I'm only asking because last time i went with a hurt shoulder after i slipped on ice they made me feel like a total timewaster! (GP isn't an option - the wait time for routine appointments is over three weeks currently!)

Yes, go to a minor injuries place, as long as they have x-rays available.

Yes, definitely get it looked at. I went over on my ankle a few years ago and felt something tear. I didn't go to my GP or tge hospital for fear of being treated the same way you wete; like a timewaster. When I finally did see a doctor, I was told off for not going at the time, and it was by then difficult to make much difference.

You should definitely go. That's what it's for. They shouldn't make you feel like timewasters. I find they are usually very rushed in these places which give the impression they don't care/find you annoying but it doesn't mean you're wasting time.

I agree go. I sprained my ankle over 4 weeks ago now. Same as you, went crack. It’s still really badly swollen and painful. They xrayed to check it wasn’t broken.
it really hurts when I’m in bed and knock it 😞

Yes, go. I'm just free of a fracture boot after whacking mine off a door frame a few weeks ago. I thought it was just bruised and hobbled about on it for a week before I went to MIU. X-ray showed a crack in the bone.

QuestionableMouse · 05/07/2023 23:16

Thanks - I'm going to go in the morning! It's so fricking sore!

Take some painkillers. Please don't attend if you are still symptomatic with a stomach bug. Heat rather than I've is more beneficial to your injury now. I'd imagine they'll stay with bony tenderness. If all ok with x-ray then they can advise on exercises/physio to promote recovery
