I have bought a skirt that I love but it is thin material. I have spoken to a dress maker and she can put in a lining and told me how much material to buy in relation to the skirt. I can’t remember what was said!
How do you work out how much material to buy?

Would be easiest to post a picture of it as it's impossible to say with you just saying that it's a skirt .

OK, I'll do that when I get home later.
The dressmaker gave me a formula such as 2 .5 x it's width ( not that, I don't think, but it was some equation!)

Or buy yourself a petticoat? I bought a couple of really plain ones from M&S and use them all the time with thin dresses/skirts.

Blimey, I've not had a petticoat in nearly 50 years!!

I wear one almost every day (just a skirt one) and have done since my late 20s. It makes my clothes hang better, I don’t need to worry about my skirt blowing up in the wind, or how sheer my skirt fabrics are. I heartily endorse the petticoat!

Yeah I wouldn't be lining it I would be wearing an underskirt.

But I'm sure she would be happy to remind you what she said in a message.
