Work fuck up, I'm panicking!

I think I have made a huge fuck up at work and deleted lots of information. Currently waiting for the IT team to get back to me so I know what the situation is.

I am absolutely freaking out so I guess I'm just looking for some words of reassurance !!

Did you also accidently delete your mumsnet account?

I remember this happening at my work many years ago. We lost two weeks worth of work of work from a team of 20 people because that's how long it has been since the last backup.

IT got into huge trouble as they were supposed to do daily backups. The person who did it was never named or reprimanded because the system should be set up to prevent it happening so the company didn't really didn't have recourse for action. (I knew one of the IT guys & he quietly told me who did it.)

All it did was trigger a massive telling off and new, strict procedures for IT.

A year or two ago after we had not long gone onto the new office with one drive I accidentally started off the deletion of the entire European team drive. It was noticed by a colleague when half the drive was deleted the next day. I was mortified. I had thought I had deleted the short cut to the drive that my colleague had shown me how set it to sync regularly and was causing me issues so I wanted to go back to just a regular on line shortcut. Took IT about 3 days to restore everything, but there were back ups in place, just took a long time to restore it. I just explained what I had done and why then tried to work with them to sort it out as best I could.
I am still employed there but cringe every time I think of it or someone mentions it.

I have done similar
Thought I was deleting the short cut - actually deleted 7 years worth of project files.
