Best first razor for teen boy?

He’s only really got fluff at the moment, but he’s getting self conscious and it’s good to be prepared.

DH uses wet razors, but they seem a bit too much just for now. We were discussing electric ones, but dh doesn’t have experience with them.

I was hoping for:

Something not too expensive.
Something gentle for teen skin (spotty at times)

What type did you get? Any ideas would be welcomed. Thank you.

Dad should show him how to shave with foam and wet razor. Electric shavers can be a bit hit n miss.

I would leave shaving for as long as possible. It will often make it all worse and create more hair, skin problems.

Electric razors do not work unless you have proper stubble from what would grow to be a proper beard. It doesn't work well on fluff

Electric shaver that is

Just get him a Gillette like everyone else

I got mine a really good rechargeable electric razor - it worked fine on the initial fluff, and is still going strong 3 years later (and he's now hairy like a yak!)

He has zero interest in wet shaving, partly because he saw what happened each time his friends shaved over their spots and it bled dreadfully...an electric razor is more forgiving.

Do you remember which one it is?

He will do, but he's not there yet. It really is just dark fluff, but he's getting self conscious.

I didn’t know that. I thought it's be like my legs - I have very fine hairs there and like the ease of the electric shaver.

my teens (both sexes) have electric shavers.

I think they are braun. rechargable and suitable for in the shower.

a lot quicker than wet shaving. and safer.

Absolutely get where you're coming from! Teen years, huh? They always seem to sneak up on you.

So, funny story: I was in the exact same boat as you not too long ago. My lad, on the brink of 15, started developing this, let's just call it... "fluff", on his face. After browsing around with Google and forums, I stumbled upon this article on https://barbierduweb.com/en/teenage-beard-razor-trimmer/ and decided to give the Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s a whirl.
The day it arrived, he looked at it skeptically (as teens tend to do) but after the first use? Total game changer. He comes down one morning, smooth-faced.
And, I've got to say, despite my boy claiming he's got the 'tough skin' of a teen (both metaphorically and literally), this razor's been super gentle. No nicks, no irritation. All that teen angst and not a single battle scar from shaving.
I don’t know if it’s the "teen magic" or the Braun, but that once dreaded morning routine has now become a breeze. Who would’ve thought, right?
Hope this helps in your decision-making! And best of luck navigating the stormy seas of teen grooming. 😉
