Provera included in HRT certificate?

Utrogestan is included in my HRT certificate but as we all know, it is not available. I have been prescribed Provera as a substitute but this is not included in the HRT certificate so I have to pay for it separately, in addition to the HRT certificate. Is this right?

Bumping this as I'm just about to apply for my HRT PPC and noticed that Provera is missing from the list.

I also usually get Utrogestan but am currently on Provera due to lack of supply, so I don't know what I'll get for my next prescription.

This is correct. I've just started hrt ( today!) and my gp said she couldn't prescribe utrogestan due to the issues so instead I've got provera. I applied for my certificate whilst stood at the pharmacy and the pharmacist confirmed its not on the list. This is because it's not just used for hrt so cannot be licensed as such. Hope this helps.

It's weird that a drug that is being prescribed by medical professionals to be used for hrt is not on the list and you have to pay for it, and yet if you take a hrt for another reason other than as a hrt medication, you can get that with the exemption certificate🤔

Is it under medroxyprogesterone instead maybe

QueenOfHiraeth · 04/07/2023 22:27

I was told that the medications covered by the HRT certificate are used for HRT only but Provera/medroxyprogesterone can be used for other indications so is not

Toddlerone · 05/07/2023 06:41

Anyone know how long we can expect Utrogestan to be unavailable?

Looks like Climanor is the same thing and is on the list.

Cantfindutrogestan · 05/07/2023 08:29

Hi I was prescribed provera but luckily they then had utrogestan in stock. There were 2 places in York that had utrogestan if this is any help at all.

longtompot · 05/07/2023 14:39

On the list there are 4 drugs which contain medroxyprogesterone so why can't that bit be used to get the Provera free? Is it to do with the amount of the drug in those medications?
