Flight upgrades

Is anyone aware of when to get the best priced upgrade? I know if I leave it last minute I risk there not being any seats in that cabin available, but if the prices go down closer to departure, I'd take the risk and hold off.

well who are you flying with to where and what upgrade are you hoping for

Varies greatly depending on where you're going, when you're going and who you're flying with. I live in the Middle East. These days it's rare to find a cheap cash upgrade. Business class is often full on the night flights. I was offered a cash upgrade for my day flight, but it was an additional £1500 London to Doha... this was Eid though, so peak time.

I probably wouldn't bank on getting it much cheaper than that to be honest.

I'm flying with Lufthansa in August. My upgrade price from Saudi to Frankfurt for my night flight is £1700... Day flight is £650.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if it was worth waiting but probably not. I flew Paris to Buenos Aires with Air France a few years ago and the upgrade was £550pp, one way. That was booked a week before departure. However, that was a few years ago.
