How to make my baby's Christening special

I have had a rough time recently with DH and we are working through things. Normally we would have some sort of family party/ dinner for special events. It is my youngest Christening soon and I don't want to go out anywhere after the Church service.

I'm wondering how can I mark this special event at home with just myself, DH and 3 children. I can't think of something slightly different but special.

How old is the child?
How religious are you - isn't the Christening itself special enough?
How old are the other 2? Do they understand what a Christening is and would they be happy with cake and a couple of balloons? Probably the best gift is an afternoon of undivided attention with the pair of you.

I assume grandparents will be there anyway so cake and lunch back at the house maybe a few balloons to decorate which the older children will play with.
