Hey,

Iv revieved universal credit for a while, single mum. I don't currently work. Iv been asked to provide a copy of my passport and 4 months worth of bank statements. Has anyone else had this and know why they've asked to see them?

I'm only asking as my dd left sixth form this year and I'm sure I looked into whether she could claim UC herself as she couldn't find a job despite trying hard. I'm sure it said she could claim as soon as leaving education in the June. For what it's worth though we don't claim any benefits so it's not like we would have taken her off our claim. She didn't claim in the end as I didn't want her being forced into job centre appointments.

@Babyroobs he was 19 in August.

Tumbleweed101 · 26/09/2023 19:54

As far as I'm aware all child related benefits stop the end of August after they leave further education. After that they start work or start higher education and are considered adults to claim in their own name.

Hi @Whoam,

Sorry! I somehow missed your message asking how things went, I heard from UC 6 days after I submitted my documents, then had the phone call after another week. It was as you said it would be. Thank you again. Hope you're doing okay

Hi, I've just had this message too and like others on here I am feeling extremely sick and anxious about it. Was just wondering if everyone who had this message was asked for the same things I've Photo I.D 4 months of statements and utility bills. Also what questions they ask you on the phone?

I feel so unwell worrying about this as I've only just been awarded LCWRA after a year long process so any advice would be really appreciated.

@AdviceAppreciated1 @Whoam hope you don't mind me tagging you just in a bit of a state ATM as I'm agoraphobic and am terrified they'll insist on a face to face interview which I absolutely would not be able to attend and my money would stop 😔

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 17/10/2023 19:02

That's what I was asked for @ThisNameIsNotMine .

Unlike everyone else who seems to have had nice straight forward cases I've been in for 2 face to face appointments, have a telephone CAL booked for this week and am still (in my opinion at least) owed 1 months child element.

Sorry that's not very positive. I think some of the confusion was because we've changed our surname, but some things are still in our old names, and some in our new one.

Yep that's exactly what I was asked for. They will ask questions about any payments on your account that look like money coming in, they asked if I have any other income or bank accounts. I was sick with worry but it was alright. Try not too stress

Doymum · 21/12/2023 20:55

Hi not sure if it’s ok to post here, I’ve lost my phone and am unable to log into my universal credit account does anyone know if I can change it over the phone at all?

ThisNameIsNotMine · 21/12/2023 21:46

@Doymum I changed mine over the phone.

Doymum · 21/12/2023 22:02

@ThisNameIsNotMine thank you someone online said I would have to get an appointment as they changed the rules in march but it didn’t make sense to me I will call in the morning

Ash456 · 21/12/2023 23:34

Can 4 months bank’s statement be available for any bank is it just Id check for uc .

ThisNameIsNotMine · 22/12/2023 10:22

@Doymum i did have to have an appointment but as I basically don't leave the house they arranged the appointment via phone for me.

Yvet31 · 04/06/2024 06:34

If a UC claimant have had a Universal Claim Review first time, when might they get another one then, is this a yearly review or what?

Fatcaz · 25/07/2024 01:35

I'm also in the middle of a review. I applied for UC during the pandemic. Initially they asked me to provide 4 months statements. Now they want every statement since I first applied. I'm not hiding anything, I suspect they think, because of my age, that I should have a few grand stashed somewhere.......I wish ! And even though you are certain that you have been honest about your financial situation, this feels like a witch hunt and not a review for your benefit......its not for your benefit......they are desperate to retrieve money......they set on 2500 people to do these reviews. It feels invasive.....I'm wondering if they will question me giving my daughters money for birthdays. I have one income and they adjust my payment accordingly. I can't wait for it to be over and done with.....
