Looking for recommendations please...in London next weekend for the tennis. My sister is flying in from Ireland and we will meet in London about 11am. I don't want a bottomless brunch as trying to avoid being hungover at Wimbledon. We rarely get together so would like to have somewhere nice and a bit special booked so we don't waste time wandering around and end up in a greasy spoon

Try the Tiffany Blue Box café but it might be booked up.

That looks a little too formal... looks lovely but we will be just off plane/train and not
In our finery. Would pretty somewhere with a more relaxed vibe. Thank you though will file away for another occasion Flowers

Whereabouts will you be meeting your sister? London is a big place!

fluckityfluckfluck · 02/07/2023 09:05

I get into Euston and she will be getting train into Paddington - hotel is Wimbledon so anywhere accessible by tube from Euston and Paddington please

The Cote Brasserie chain do v good brunches, and not silly prices. V good choice of dishes, you can see the menu online.

Riding House Cafe off Oxford street used to be my favourite place for brunch - I assume they do it in the week. The Ivy cafes are generally good for brunch too.

Lots of places around King's Cross St Pancras. St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is nice, but if too formal you could try Coal Drops Yard www.kingscross.co.uk/eat-and-drink?gclid=Cj0KCQjwwISlBhD6ARIsAESAmp76LPkhqoNgRqcX8vHNdvRl0pNWc-ftF1B2fwpt7OrO0tLyW9EBorUaAmXyEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I am a but clueless about London geography, but we LOVE 'Where the Pancakes Are' in Fitzrovia/Soho. I think there's also one at Battersea Power Station.

kistanbul · 02/07/2023 09:35

looking at your routes from Paddington and Euston, I think you’ll struggle to find somewhere convenient and bookable with a relaxed vibe.

Go straight down south to Putney and eat by the Thames. There are some good choices down there.

Although you said you didn't want a bottomless brunch, Roka Aldwych does a great one, only at weekends mind. But they do a nice lunch menu mid week, and they have availability this Friday 12pm, you could make a reservation. £36-£46. Any good?

Whataretheodds · 02/07/2023 10:29

Riding House as PP said.
Balthazar in Covent Garden
The Delaunay
Breakfast Club (various locations)
Nopi (Ottolenghi)
The Good Egg

Megan's in the village is lovely for brunch/lunch.

PeanutButter82 · 02/07/2023 10:49

Caravan is nice and v relaxed. There is one on Great Portland St which would be reasonably accessible to both of you from Paddington/Euston.

bryceQ · 02/07/2023 10:59

There's lots behind kings cross like dishoom

Or balthazar Covent garden

Inextremis · 02/07/2023 11:06

I was going to say Dishoom too. We had breakfast there in May, and it was really good - the Big Bombay has most of the elements of a full English, but with spicy twists :) You also get bottomless chai - no alcohol involved!

Whataretheodds · 02/07/2023 11:11

Dishoom breakfast is delicious but has a strict cut- off because it's halal after breakfast not before so they do a turnaround in the kitchen. Timing not ideal for brunch.

mondaytosunday · 02/07/2023 12:36

Yea I'd head straight to Wimbledon have brunch at Megan's or even Côte as there's one of those there too. Book.

tobyiana · 02/07/2023 12:38

Bluebird on the Kings Road - nr Sloane Square which is on the district line so easy to access. There's also quite a few nice places new the river in Putney.

fluckityfluckfluck · 02/07/2023 13:30

I don't want to wait until we get to Wimbledon as we've an early dinner booked at the ivy there... sister won't eat anything spicy so all that rules out dishoom etc. Also my train only gets in to Euston at 11.15, lots of breakfast types seem to stop at 11-11.30
