No words, no wonder they are struggling as a business.

Mercifully I don't get ads past the annoying front page banner - what are they showing?

HighEndGrifters · 02/07/2023 11:37

Just the vilest things that my mother who lived to 82, would have been seen dead in.

Mauve, who the hell uses mauve as a description these days.

The second link is even worse. IMO

Many of the older women in my church dress like this. Do you think advertisers should only cater to your taste 🤔🤷‍♀️

HighEndGrifters · 02/07/2023 11:53

And I know a lot who don’t and haven’t seen shite like that in years.

I mean EWM has always had clothes like this why would they change ? My dd went for an Interview in one she said its very old lady which it Is.

Mrsjayy · 02/07/2023 11:56

The area the shop Is rural and older women do dress like that .

Tinkerbyebye · 02/07/2023 12:50

You may not like the clothes but thousands do

how about you tell us where you shop and no doubt people can take shit about that

why start such a nasty post

UnwaxedLemon · 02/07/2023 13:38

I'm 34 and I wear some clothes from there. Their Isle range is aimed at people 40+ I would say, whereas the Honor Milburn is 70+. Admittedly I know this because I worked there years ago, but they do a range of clothes that meet a need, just like other shops. I like their nightwear especially, because I like long nighties.

stbrandonsboat · 02/07/2023 13:39

Stop being horrible towards older people and people who aren't that bothered about the latest fashion. A lot of older people have to dress for comfort and practicality and they're not going to be interested in bloody crop tops and short skirts.

Catsmere · 02/07/2023 14:13

What on earth is wrong with the word mauve? It's simply the name of the colour. The word's been around since the eighteenth century. Nor do I see anything wrong with that skirt. It's not something I'd wear but that's more because of practicality than "eww my mother wouldn't be seen dead in that" nonsense. I'm 60, btw, and my mother is 90.

When you posted I expected to see the sort of arse-hanging-out type of things so prevalent on the net (which would be more in my "vile" category) since I've never heard of EWM and Googling didn't help.

I have an Isle jacket and a couple of t shirts an outlet near me stock Isle I'm older than you but it's just clothes isn' t it you either like them or don't.

My grandmother wears stuff like this all the time. She always looks very smartly turned out. And has plenty of disposable money to spend on it.

I suspect there are plenty of people around to keep them in business.

AuntieStella · 02/07/2023 14:22

"Old" ladies do not "dress like this"

You can like fugly clothes at any age, and you can also be amazingly stylish/quirky/individual at any age.

Casual ageism is wrong.
