The worst of all the non- serious illnesses...

... Is 100% a cold when you're pregnant.

Like I feel like absolute crap and no amount of shitty honey and lemon water is helping. And I feel like I've dislodged my actual womb from coughing so much and my face and teeth really hurt.

There's some quite serious stuff going on in my extended family in real life so I'm not going to start whinging about the worlds worst cold out loud but if anybody here wants to hit me up with some sympathy or miracle cures, I'd be very grateful.

Chicken soup - if you've no one to make it for you, instant chicken noodle soup with shredded chicken and parsley isn't bad at all.

And ginger ale - cuts the phlem.

Hot shower and bed. And poor you, rotten thing to have, hope you get some sleep.

Chicken brodo - 3 chicken thighs, a couple of carrots, an onion, a stock cube, a tsp of marmite and a carton of passage. Chuck it all in the slow cooker on low for 8 hours. After 7 hours shred and debone the chicken and chuck in a handful of rice. Turn to high for an hour and enjoy. I like to chuck in some cubes of cheese when serving and pair with crusty bread and butter. A friend's mum's recipe that will fix all ills. Hope you feel better soon x

Passata not passage 🙄

Not a miracle cure but comforting, hot Ribena, not the sugar free variety. Hope you feel better soon.

Sympathies OP, it is indeed the pits (although I'm afraid you're wrong - noro ripping through the house is worse). I get a lot of colds but it still surprises me every time just how miserable they make you feel.

Sterimer saline nose spray and hot lemon and honey were surprisingly effective for me when pregnant Flowers

Chicken soup with loads of ginger, garlic & chilli, blasts the germs from your body. Use either a chicken carcass or wings & thighs, boil up with a head of garlic, leave the cloves in the skin, chop some ginger & a couple of red chilli's. Skim off the scum & boil until all the goodness has boiled out of the bones, strip the meat & chop in to edible chunks, you could finely chop onions, carrots & any other veg, add lentils & split peas, add lemon for vitamin C. Have a bowl full 3 times a day, the last one just before bed & keep wrapped up, the soup will do it's magic, don't panic if your temperature goes up, that is part of how it works. Put Vick on the soles of your feet & thick socks for the cough, inhale the steam from the soup to unblock your nose.

For coughs, I make up a small flask of fresh ginger, lemon honey , add cinnamon and cloves if you like them. Leave to seep in hot water for an hour or so, and then sip continuously.

Thank you for the lovely advice ladies. I've got with hot vimto (because I don't have Ribena in), honey and lemon and I've made a big vat of chicken soup. I'm still bravely soldering on and not complaining (much) in real life about it but dh did send me back to bed for the afternoon to get some rest too.

@JenniferBarkley I've never actually had noro but if you've suffered from both I'll concede and allow noro to take the top spot with pregnancy colds a very close second.

I actually hate that colds are seen as 'just a cold' and I actually understand why people say flu when they mean a cold - they can make you feel like absolute shite. This one seems to have settled on my chest and is making me wheeze like my nana.
