What has bitten me? Sore and itchy.

Got bitten last week on my calf, knee and ankle. Took antihistamines and used hydrocortisone. (I do react to midge bites, but I'm not in a midgey area and never reacted this badly). Thought the bites were getting better but today they've got worse. Thought I'd been re bitten, but haven't. Have developed crescents of hot, sore itchiness around the bites.
Not sure what to do next. Is this now an antibiotic job or just keep on the antihistamines?

I think you need to have those checked out, to be on the safe side. They look very sore!

Plump82 · 01/07/2023 21:24

Agreed, I'd be getting them checked out. Not quite bullseye rash but the fact there's a slight ring of redness, id be concerned.

Galectable · 01/07/2023 21:25

See a GP, bites can turn nasty. You have done all the right things up till now but you need an expert opinion to stop it getting worse.

I agree about the partial bullseye rash. I'd get medical advice.

Hi,

We've been getting lots of procession moth rashes in Surrey from moth dander , it may be that but agree with other posters it looks angry bless you! Worth getting checked at GP, I'd ask for some topical hydrocortisone to calm it down.

Perihelion · 01/07/2023 21:47

Don't think procession moths have got to Edinburgh yet, but we did have warm weather... possibly blandford fly or spider.
I flea treated the house and the dog today, just in case, but there's no signs on the dog, he's not been scratching and he's treated regularly.
This is shite.

Oh, god. My money is on a tick with lyme due to bull's eye. Antibiotics if so. Don't wait. Cellulitis can develop fast. Happened to me!
Let us know?

Perihelion · 01/07/2023 22:37

Not sure it's tick bites, used to have an outdoor job, in the NW Highlands, so am very aware of them, but the bite on my ankle is on the other leg....
Think I'll have to go to the Minor Injuries tomorrow, if I haven't chopped off my legs in the mean time.

No way would you be unlucky enough to get three ticks, all with Lyme. Looks more like a severe reaction to flea or fly. Needs hydrocortisone.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/07/2023 16:32

@Perihelion any update? 🤔
