What do do with a free afternoon in London?

Just that really! I've got a rare afternoon to myself in London coming up and can't think how to spend it. I should point out that I grew up and lived/worked in London until 10 years ago so I know some areas very well, but I'm out of touch with what's on/where's fun and need some advice. I don't fancy shopping (no funds) and not keen on wandering around the Southbank/Covent Garden (have done that to death) but I do like galleries/nice walks/shows/experiences etc. I need to be in Kensington early evening so don't want to stray too far but up for going anywhere within the tube zones. Any ideas?

Wallace Collection with afternoon tea? Behind Oxford Street.

Tate Gallery? We went recently I still enjoy it when I go.

There are Van Gogh and Monet immersive experiences which are high on my wish list.

SecretLDN is a good resource for quirky activities.

Im looking forward to seeing the new NPG.

Greenwich park is lovely. And If you want to see a show The Tina Turner musical is amazing!

I think I’d go up to the redeveloped Kings Cross area and walk along the canal - there’s a lot going on around that area and it may have changed a fair bit since your London days.

I have similar free time next week and have booked for the Ai Wei Wei exhibition at the design museum.
