Is Lanzarote safe for solo women travellers?

Is Lanzarote somewhere that's safe (and accessible) to visit solo? And any recommendations for accommodation/resorts that would be nice for a solo woman in her mid 30s to chill, swim, do a bit of exploring, maybe do some (easy) cycling? Looking to go in Feb next year.

We've been a number of times as a family and I would think it was safe for a solo female.
Puerto de Carmen is nicely located and lively. Playa Blanca is more gentle but right down the south end.

Never been to Lanzarote but don't see why it wouldn't be.

I've solo travelled all over the world, India, Asia, Africa, never had a problem.

Maybe do a weekend in UK to start with to build up your confidence.

This is the FCDO travel advice for Spain (which includes the Canaries). Bear in mind that a lot of the advice is in relation to mainland Spanish cities and party resorts like Ibiza.

Lanzarote is generally quiet and safe.

Thanks, I've been away solo quite a lot before, I just thought Lanzarote seemed a bit isolated in places. And perhaps difficult to travel around?

Really easy to travel around Lanzarote by bike (excellent for cycling) or hire car. Public transport is fairly limited.
I've travelled a lot and there are places I wouldn't go to as go back to as a lone female, including parts of Turkey, Marrakech, but Lanzarote was very safe and quiet, lots of families and older couples.

I would think so. We go to Playa Blanca Rubicon marina end. Safe beaches, shops restaurants , craft markets , boat trips . The island isn’t that big so trips to the other end. Cactus garden and the volcanic park are great .

I presume local women there don't go around with a chaperone constantly?

blackpinkinyourarea · 01/07/2023 11:10

Its very safe. I wouldnt wander around alone at night but i wouldn't do that in the uk either....

Sorry, recommendation wise: Playa blanca would suit you, its very peaceful and theres some lovely hotel resorts there (ive stayed at h10 rubicon).
Puerto del Carmen is livelier, with lots of shops and bars and restaurants along a very long stretch by the seafront, very family friendly still.

Local women can speak the language. I'm more concerned about getting ripped off/scammed/pickpocketed than experiencing any kind of attack to be honest. I'm a photographer and will be taking expensive camera equipment.
