Was I cheeky?

1st world issue I know and it might be my pre menstrual self being annoyed more than normal. I was at Dunelm paying at the counter- not a supermarket conveyer type where you line up behind each other. I was putting card details in when a women came and stood right next to me and plonked her things on the counter also. I had to say 'excuse me' to lean over her to get my items off the counter. She didn't move back nor say anything.

I said to her 'most people would wait until the counter was clear before putting their own things down!' I was moving things into to my trolley, got my receipt and card. As I walked out- she said to the lady serving- well she was cheeky! Was I, or was she just rude?

She was rude and will already have forgotten about it. So you shouldn't give her another second's headspace.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Can we have a diagram please?

She put her stuff in-between you and your stuff?

Lizzt2007 · 30/06/2023 22:10

She was rude. You hadn't finished at the counter, she waits her turn.

She was rude imo

Since COVID and likely before, it's just a thing to stand back until person ahead has cleared, especially in places like Dunelm. Don't give her a second thought, that was unusual behaviour from her, judging by my locals standards.

You mean like a long counter where they have several tills and cashiers working along it? And one queue where you wait to see who is available next?

I can't imagine walking forward and putting my stuff on a counter like that before the person before me has paid and left. She was being weird. That's just not how they work.

Exactly this scenario. There was no queue, I was the only one at the counter, and the woman behind didn't wait in the queue area. She came straight to the counter I was being served at- whilst I was still being served.
