When words really do make a difference.

E-mailed all my colleagues last weekend to let them know I'll be retiring in July.....I'm a supply teacher in my school.
I've worked in every class, so I know everyone well.

At best I hoped I'd get a good luck in retirement reply. However, the replies I received literally moved me to tears ......never ever realised what an impact I'd made in my 20 years at the school both on them and the children I've taught. Absolutely priceless for my self esteem and self worth.

Words really do make a difference, use them well to make someone's day.
They've certainly made my day...... They've made my week!

Aw this is lovely! I think all we can ever hope for is to make a tiny positive difference in someone's life and sounds like you've done a lot of that. Happy retirement💐

When I left my full time school, all the people I’d worked with made a book for me. There were so many lovely messages in it and I take it out and read them when I need a bit of a boost.

Congratulations on your retirement!

Thank you @onlymyselftoanswerto1 ......I've worked hard and I really do get on with everyone so it was a lovely surprise to receive such lovely replies.
I've been walking around on cloud nine all week.

Thank you @Bluevelvetsofa for your lovely words. I've got a basket full of thank you cards from my days as a full time teacher and periodically they come out too.
Never realised my colleagues held me in such high esteem.

That's lovely to hear. Well done you, for clearly making a difference to colleagues and pupils alike!

And it's a reminder that showing our appreciation really is important.

Thankyou @Qbish I honestly think so too. I've always been a person who passes on my appreciation, so to receive it back so generously from my colleagues means the world to me.
