How is Paris at the moment?! (Holiday next week)

We have a lovely holiday planned in central Paris next week but I’m feeling a bit nervous looking at the news.

I’ve been in Paris before during unrest and it’s been easy to avoid but this is looking pretty grim. Any advice?

II can’t really find any videos etc of issues actually in PARIS that are not fake/from racist sources trying to stir hate.

at the moment we are definitely going ahead!

So I have looked at some of Paul Goldings Tweets

He is misinforming, from responses I see on his Tweets, about certain aspects of the Paris riots. People mainly pointing out his videos were either from a movie (with proof) or old news and not in Paris (re animals being let out the zoo).

I would be surprised if the riots went on much longer. People have other things to do and they will get tired of it anyway.

Now now, not everyone has to think the same...

As I said earlier- we're in Paris right now & in the 5th arrondissement & we've had the loveliest afternoon strolling to Notre Dane & having dinner out.

No sign of riots here other than more police cars & vans whizzing by.

It was really life as normal around here today

Wallywobbles · 02/07/2023 21:09

Currently in Paris looks pretty quiet. About to Uber so will ask the driver

Wallywobbles · 02/07/2023 21:44

Uber guy said central Paris is fine the trouble is mostly in the banlieue. And it's gradually calming down.

Thanks @Wallywobbles !

Does anyone know what arrondisements are effected? We'll be in the 12th in 10 days.

Does anyone know the areas affected?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 07/07/2023 17:34

A friend of mine was over for work this week and he said it was fine.

OldHouseLover · 07/07/2023 20:18

We're here & have been since sat evening which was one of the worst days I gather.
We're in 5th arrondissement & have moved around into 6th / 1st etc & it's all been business as normal.

The main areas affected are outside the periphique / in the suburbs & towns surrounding the city. The champs elysse was a no go area the 1st night we were here too.

It seems to have quietened down now & in the main city centre there's no sense of anything amiss.

We've been having a wonderful week

Great thank you 😊 our hotel is a bit out but I don't think it is really near anything bar one place that was listed.

OldHouseLover · 07/07/2023 23:46

I'm just in from drinks around the pantheon & it was buzzy & fun. Tons of people out & about.
Where are you staying?

FuppinNora · 08/07/2023 08:39

Out near Châtillon, it sounds like there isn't much affected by reading different threads so fingers crossed.
