Preteen iPhone monitoring app advice, please!

My preteen has been given an iPhone. For various reasons not relevant to this thread it needs to be used by them. Is there a (free) app which I can use to monitor their phone use and location?

Not sure about phone use but Life360 is free. They’ll know you can see them though and will also be able to see you.

If you’ve also got an iPhone and their phone is set up as a child account on your own account you can monitor their usage and set parental controls.

If you both have iPhones you can go on find my on your iPhone and it will tell you their location, similarity there daily usage statistics will tell you what apps they have been on.

If you also have an IPhone, you need to set them up as a minor on your family group then you can use Screen Time to manage their usage. You can set limits how long she can use the phone for each day, what apps she can access, content rating settings and also set limits on how long she can use individual apps for. Screen Time can be a bit hit and miss though and there are various ways for savvy kids to get around the restrictions. I also found that it would randomly reset the limits itself so it’s not very reliable. Android has a Family Link app which is far more reliable and robust but can only be used to control Android devices..
