Bumpy mass and breast pain (in one side only)?

vipersnest1 · 29/06/2023 21:33

I've been experiencing breast / chest wall (I couldn't pinpoint which) pain and tenderness for about a month and put it down to a sore rib initially (I have fibromyalgia and do get a sore - different and lower - rib at times).
It was persistent so I made a GP appointment and saw one today. I pointed out the tender area and she seemed to be able to home on it right away.
Before I went, I could never really work out where the pain was coming from, but since having a feel after I got home, it's a hard bumpy mass in my upper breast rather than a single lump.
I've been referred to the breast clinic for a non-urgent symptomatic breast.
Does anyone have experience and / or a handhold?
I'm worried. I've never had problems with my breasts before (not even especially tender when pregnant), and am in my late fifties so it's the last thing I expected to happen.
(For clarity, I do have another thread running, but this was from when I was first concerned and couldn't feel anything specific myself.)
Any experience or advice would be welcome, as it seems I'm not on the 2WW pathway, but would like to know what's going on ASAP.

Yes, @Moonberri. Sorry, I should have made that clear.
It's just another thing to add to the list of growing aches and pains as I get older. 😵‍💫

So pleased for you. You can celebrate this evening 😊

That's the best news you could have brought back, I'm really pleased for you. I hope the pain eases off soon and you're more comfortable.

MMorales · 19/07/2023 19:01

Excellent news.

I'm glad the results came back clear!

vipersnest1 · 19/07/2023 19:37

Thank you everyone! Smile
I'm shattered, @LaffTaff, so suspect I will!
@Elle200, I think it's likely now that I will always have a twinge or two there (especially thanks to the new sore ribs joining in with the one that already troubles me occasionally), but I don't have to worry that it's something nasty now.

Great news

@vipersnest1 I thought this would be the result. My consultant said wear a bra day and night to reduce pain so I do now. Dense boobs are a pain. I breast fed three babies yet here I am

I breastfed my two as well. I've ordered new soft bras (I've been wearing sports bras as they're more comfy but I need something that doesn't have huge straps and band). I realised I didn't ask what grade they are, so will call and ask, as I'm in the three yearly mammogram bandwagon now. Yes, it's a pain (literally) but I know now - I was never told before and always wondered why my boobs didn't squash flat when I had a mammogram. Apparently younger women have denser breasts, so I'm taking it as a compliment! And I will definitely mention it for future mammograms. I have a bad back, and the whole experience was far better than being clamped in and then told to move with a dodgy back.

Great news

Indeed! I went through a weepy moment earlier - I felt shivery and quite sick. I suppose it was me releasing all of the worry I've had.

Late to this but so pleased all was ok. I too suffer from dense breasts which are also bastards! Lots of bumps and pains which makes you fee anxious, every time I examine I'm sure I'll find something new!

Again, I'm in awe of the lovely place that is MN.
A nest of vipers we may be, but there is a community of lovely people here. Flowers
