Invisalign and social events

I’m considering getting Invisalign but I just wanted to see how people went about social events/going out for dinner/holidays etc with the retainers in.

I read you have to keep them in for 22hrs a day, but what about if you are out for a long lunch/dinner/night out/concert/wedding etc.

Do you have to keep taking them out and putting them back in? As I read you have to brush your teeth every time you eat too. I do want them done but worried about this aspect of things!

Any advice would be great thank you 😊

It's a bit of a pain! I just tend to keep them in. If I'm going somewhere and I know I'll be eating I excuse myself to the bathroom to remove them, and then after just brush my teeth quickly (I bought a travel toothbrush and paste to keep in my bag) and put them back in. On some occasions I've just swilled with water and put them back in until I can clean my teeth properly.
I don't remove them for drinking really unless it's a dark coloured drink.

I've had mine about 7.5 months and im fed up with them to be honest. I know it'll be worth it and the effects are great so far but I can't wait to go back to normal teeth with no buttons and attachments! Good luck!

Just coming to the end of my 6 months on Invisalign and I def haven’t worn mine for 22 hours a day!

If I was to go for an evening out or something I would just take them out before I go. I drink coffee with mine in but not juice etc due to the sugar. I take a travel sized mouthwash when out and about or just rinse my mouth with water.

It’s not been too bad but I’m def ready to finish now!
