Giving up social media

Everything seems to be all over social media these days. Which makes it harder to check events and nothing is online as it’s all on social media. I’ve chose to give it up to move on from my past and focus on everything that is going on atm, to really gain some control in my life. Has anyone ever jacked it in for good and how do you resist the temptation of it all

I deleted and blocked everyone, changed my first name to my middle one.

That way, I can still follow local event pages and the children’s classes etc.

I sometimes think, “I wonder how Kate from school is getting on?”

And then I realise that I last saw Kate in person in 1996 and we’ve only liked a few of each others holiday photos in the last 15 years

I got rid of everything 2.5 years ago and I don't miss it at all.
It's quite nice not knowing everyone's business and just focusing on what is real in my own life☺️

This. I mean I think we focus too much on others happiness. I just want that focus on my family at the moment because I feel it’s such a distraction. I get people love it and can have benefits for them but I feel it’s a huge distraction to my life and feel more negative having it then I would not having it. I just want that break to see if I can really focus. I used to live in the country side and I had such a more focused and happier life even though I had social media but would occasionally come off it at times. It’s so easy to click on profiles from the past and I’m like I would probably feel better not knowing. I just need it for events and even finding hairdressers etc which are all posted on social media for the area
