Mirena

I had the Mirena fitted in November during a hysteroscopy. I've had no complications or side effects, which is great as I reacted very badly to progesterone in the past. The past few days, I have noticed some spotting and some small dark clots (sorry if TMI). I almost feel like I've got PMT as well, but mild. Has anyone experienced similar? Is this normal after 8 months? Thanks in advance.

Hi there hope you are ok. How are you getting on now? I had same procedure and coil fitted In january. Have spotted lightly ever since but in the last few days I’ve had what seems like a proper period, much heavier and with the little clots you describe. I have sore boobs and cramps too. Six months on I thought this would all have ended, I’ve been having spotting and a nightmare with bleeding for 3 years now xx

@Mrsworried1 It seems never ending doesn't it? I had it fitted to treat my meno symptoms but after having no symptoms for about 8 months, they're back with a vengeance. I'm utterly exhausted and fed up. xx

Hello @Arniesleftleg and @Mrsworried1 - I've been told I need a hysteroscopy (under GA) and have the option of having a Mireya fitted. I had a terrible experience trying to have one put in after DCs because of a tilted cervix so very nervous (and about the hysteroscopy).

How are you both doing?

@Waitingwomb I too have a tilted cervix so things like this and smears are very uncomfortable but it eventually went ok. Try not to worry.
My issues seem to have settled but I do have an appointment to see the gynea in November to check every thing is still going ok xx

Still spotting! Fed up xx

@Arniesleftleg @Mrsworried1 - hard agree! It's been two icky months now and I just want it to stop, not least because of the amount I'm spending on pads and liners. I've had horrific peri symptoms throughout and I'm thoroughly fed up. Probably anaemic too!

Arniesleftleg · 12/09/2023 13:47

@Waitingwomb sorry to hear that. Hopefully it should settle down soon. I agree though, it’s thoroughly miserable x
