Civil Service Recruitment

Anyone have any idea what is considered a bulk campaign? My role was advertised as one of 6 jobs. Is this a bulk campaign and why the process is taking so long?

Passed pre-employment checks 3 weeks ago and still not heard anything.

A bulk campaign would be where a department advertises for multiple posts at the same/ similar grade simultaneously. Social Security Scotland have done it a lot recently as an example. My sister joined through a bulk recruitment and it took about 9 months for her to get proper confirmation she had the job..

Civil service recruitment is rather slow. I moved from one department to another and it still took 6 months from submitting the application and starting the job!

yes its a bulk campaign if they're advertising several posts at once. having just been the manager of one it is paaaaainfully slow

I'd refer to anything with more than 1 post as bulk, but 6 will hopefully be a little less convulsed than the 50+ campaigns we see! That said CS recruitment is slow at the best of times even with single roles so it's hard to say.

menope · 05/07/2023 16:12

*convoluted.

If your post requires security clearance it can take a while.

caringcarer · 05/07/2023 16:17

CS is notoriously slow and often make the chosen candidate wait up to 8 weeks to start.

I interviewed for a CS job in early May, got it and I'm still on pre employment checks on the portal, process seems very slow!
