Ballet bun (fine, short, bob)

Hi all,

Dd(6) needs to wear her hair in a ballet bun on Friday (school ballet recital).

'Ballet buns' are mandatory, but DD has a very straight, fine, bob (just below the ears).

What product would you use as a one off to get her hair to stay in a ballet bun?

I have no experience of such things.

I am a synchro mum. We use a small amount of gelatine crystals dissolved as per instructions, apply with a pastry brush, use a fine hairnet round the bun and secure with hair pins. There are lots of videos on you tube.
The gelatine washes out with hot water and shampoo.
I wouldn't spray lots of hairspray on a child.

That's interesting re: the gelatin @fiftyandfat, thank you - I'm not sure DD even has enough hair for the bun element - but the gelatin should help to slick it back and control it into a high pony tail, from there, I can turn it into a 'bobble' of hair.
