I've been fasting for about 7 weeks. Slow progress but was really enjoying. Today however the most almighty binge has started (thanks period)! And I cannot stop eating this blasted day! I mean seriously!

I work in a school and this time of year is notoriously bad for sweets, buns, cakes - you name it. I need to reel it in or I'll be in regret mode by Friday

You need to eat more protein.

I really do. I fallen into sugar pit hell and there's never a truer saying that the more sugar you eat, the more you crave!!!!

I only ever last about 2 weeks fasting before I have a day like this then I give up. Don't worry about it start afresh tomorrow.

Stop eating ?

Allmyghosts · 28/06/2023 02:38

Write today off and go again. One day, so what, don't discount the days you were "good"

Allmyghosts · 28/06/2023 02:41

The only time I ever just stuck to a diet was when I was pg with ds2 (gestational diabetes). It wasn't even hard tbh, I just ate as I should, wasn't tempted at all. All went to shit afterwards because apparently I don't give a shit about myself 🙄.

What’s this?
You eating again, you disgust me.
Go take a look at yourself in the mirror.
Now, put those donuts away.
Don’t let me have to speak to you about this again!!

"You disgust me" twangs of eating disorder.

OP, don't let that start. It;s okay to have a day off. Fasting can be hard, depressing work, one day of fun every now and then is better for your mental health than forever fasting.

kelsaycobbles · 28/06/2023 07:34

Don't worry about one or two days
Especially when it's responding to signals from your body
Have the break and go back again when you are ready

SatelliteStomper · 28/06/2023 07:35

It's ok, OP, honestly. I do intermittent fasting (mostly OMAD) and really enjoy it as you say. But every so often I have a day like yours, usually when my period is on its way.

It tends to be on days when I've not had enough protein in my evening meal, then I hit the post-dinner biscuits with a vengeance. It happened last night (still a pound down this morning though!)

Just let it go and get back in your fasting groove today, prioritsing protein and good fat when you do eat. Don't sweat it, you've not ruined anything.

SatelliteStomper · 28/06/2023 07:37

And definitely avoid 'you disgust me'!

You're doing good things for your body. The odd day off-piste is no biggie in the overall scheme of things.

WarmFunKindStrong · 28/06/2023 08:23

Stop eating@eateateateatalldaylong . Maybe change your username too!

When you do break your fast, push protein.
You know that you are doing well, right? I can't fast for love or money.

headcheffer · 28/06/2023 08:38

Honestly? Eat. Eat as much lean protein, veg, fruit etc as you can until you're stuffed. You'll be full, happy with the quality of what you've eaten and you'll be ready to fast again. And don't be hard on yourself or use negative language about yourself

WGACA · 28/06/2023 08:52

Avoid the staffroom at all costs!

ErrolTheDragon · 28/06/2023 09:58

You'll probably feel rather yuck after eating sugary stuff. Remembering that may help you desist.

It's ok to have a break from fasting, maybe take something like a protein bar to work to have if you're tempted by sweet sugary stuff at work when you've got your period.

Same same same. (But I had GD twice). I was great at it both times, lost weight, felt brilliant, was totally on top of it.
Now? Forget it! Total nightmare. Why can't I care about my own health in the same way?
