I think it's a congenital pit
Never heard of these before but seen they can be linked to genetic syndromes ?
Anyone have any information about this ?
Do I need to take her to the gp?

This one is on the web, it's exactly what dd has got

My dd has these. She had a hearing test as a newborn which she passed. No effects at all. She's been asked by other kids at school whether she had a piercing there which she kind of liked.

I'd go to gp.

LaJolieMuse · 27/06/2023 20:32

Yes you can take her to the GP for advice, but my DS has one in a different place on his ear and it's never been anything. It's just a weird hole. He's got a few other weird things, for example a high up dimple on one side only, which is pretty unusual.

All 3 of my kids have extremely odd and unusual genetic malformations from birth that no one can really explain! My daughter has a Mongolian blue spot birth mark even though we're white with no genetic history that we know of that would explain it.

My dd has one like this which has a different name. Apologies

Both my kids have ear pits. They are both fine. So do I in fact! Without other symptoms don't worry too much.

Thanks everyone. The ones on the outer ear seem to get mentioned online commonly but where dd's is I can't really find anything about ! I only noticed it because I was picking the crusty bits out of her ears (very satisfying 😆) and thought it was a bit of crust !!

Thanks for posting this. I noticed something almost identical on my 13 year old (no idea if it's new or has taken me that long to spot it!) right inside folds of his ear. I can't find anything else about it online, but if he's made it through 13 years I guess it's nothing serious!
Did you ever find out what it is?

I have one op and so does my mum, my grandma and DD. Never had any issues with it at all but it’s funny it’s just the females
