Holiday destination help!

Evening all!

Trying to plan myself something to look forward to after a really rubbish few years, but am absolutely lost on destination.

Limited budget (haven't we all though), but looking for:

  • beach
  • clubs (didn't do the end of school girls holiday, free and single now so looking to have the option of taking advantage)
  • warm towards the middle/end of September
  • friendly/safe for solo travelling

Other than that, open to a lot!

What is a “limited budget”?

Lesssugarketchup · 27/06/2023 20:52

Will you be travelling alone or with friends?

Crikeyalmighty · 27/06/2023 21:06

I've been going to Turkey (Specifically Olu Deniz/Hisaronu area) on my own since 2010. I love it and feel totally safe there, even slightly drunk after midnight (much safer than in the UK). My daughter went with me and now happily also goes on her own if we aren't free at the same time.

Loads of single people there. Loads of families and couples too and small groups of singles but I've never seen any large hen/stag parties.

Lots of All inc places if that would feel more comfortable for a first time solo traveller but also some very reasonably priced hotels - and the exchange rate means that, although not as cheap as it has been, the prices are great in comparison to the UK.

Very happy to give more details if wanted

@NannyGythaOgg definitely up for more info!

While I have travelled solo before, one was a very short holiday where i think i slept through most of it (pre job change stress relief holiday), and I did a city in Ireland last year but majorly regretted it..

Definitely after somewhere I can have a few drinks and still feel safe.. language wise what's it like for someone who only speaks english?

@Lesssugarketchup alone, and looking at around 400-800, but need to get some overtime in...

@FarTooHotForMe thanks - I'll have a look at those! Any recommended places within those?

@Crikeyalmighty cheers - been to cyprus with the ex, but will have a look at corfu! Any specific places there to look at?

@ZombiePara Paphos is nice but larnaca will have the clubs if you want a bit of that Ibiza vibe.

@ZombiePara As a single in Turkey it is, in my experience, better to book your hotel direct as packages frequently expect you to pay double for both hotel and flight. Turks being Turkish, they will always give you a better deal booking direct. Cheapest flights I am finding are best with Pegasus (a Turkish Airline), whilst the prices aren't much different, hold luggage is about £15 rather than £40 each way. AND I find a taxi at Dalaman (Turkey airport) good value. You come out the airport to see a driver, with your name on a card and get delivered directly to your hotel. (About 70/80 pound compared to £25 for the bus where you may be waiting over an hour and then have many drop offs - it's my biggest luxury and definitely worth it to me)
PM me if you want specific contact details for hotels, transfers etc

And yet you provide zero clarity on how you get remunerated. Or a great start!

alisonofagun · 28/06/2023 06:00

Would you consider a cruise?

I can recommend Norwegian. have travelled solo with them loads, great vibe!

ZombiePara · 30/06/2023 20:28

Ahhh amazing - thank you for these! My holiday hunt got unexpectedly waylaid this week, so going to try and have a better look at places mentioned over the weekend! :)
