We had a middle name planned for DS2 (2mo) but DH we competed the forms wrong. He has been registered everywhere (doctors, insurance etc) with his middle name but we’ve only recently received his birth certificate and found out our error. So I’m wondering whether anyone has added a middle name and whether it has caused any admin headaches in later life?
The middle name is a family name from my Dads side. It’s been in the family for generations so it was important to me. DS1 has a family name from DH side as a middle name. If we had picked a name just so he had one then I would probably just leave it out.
We are British but we live abroad and it’s not possible to change a birth certificate once it’s been issued. Our only option is a deed poll equivalent here. His British passport has now been issued without it as we have travel booked but that would be the only document we would have to update at this point.
