I have a dear friend visiting this Saturday, we are meeting up in London on the South Bank (her choice).
I'd like to take her somewhere nice, but not formal for dinner/supper Sat eve, ideally walking distance from the South Bank, but happy to jump on the tube/bus.
Really want somewhere we can eat outdoors as you never know when the great British summer is going to end....
Anyone got any places that would suit?

The BFI restaurant is nice, with plenty of outside space.

Ooh, and The Swan at the Globe, they have lovely food and an outdoor terrace but you’d absolutely have to book and specify an outside table.

We had a fab lunch at the Oxo tower brasserie recently. Get a table by the window as the views are great. They also have an outdoor terrace overlooking the river. It's not cheap though.

Brasserie Blanc has a venue with a terrace on the Southbank. I haven’t been at that one but a few others and they are good and quite ok prices.

Bistro blanc is nice but not sure about outside space. I don’t love any of the chain restaurants on the south bank. I’d second the oxo tower but it’s spendy.

Sea containers for a meal. They have a really lovely tasting menu.
Maybe 12th knot for rooftop cocktails.

Seabird at Blackfriars has a terrace but its pricey

A slightly less obvious but really lovely choice is the restaurant at the Garden Museum which is next door to Lambeth Palace. You do have to take a bit of a chance on the menu as it changes depending on what they've got in that day.

I should say I'm really not a fan of the south bank, it's a bit too concretely for me, so very happy to not eat in that actual area!

How about an evening stroll down to a terrace looking out onto Tower Bridge?
