My child had to have an endoscopy carried out today due to showing signs of severe reflux.
the results show that the ‘cardia’ is open (the valve that’s supposed to prevent stomach acid flowing back up the oesophagus.
The letter also states that they saw petechial gastritis. This is something I’ve never heard of and Google isn’t really telling me much either. I’ve only really heard of petechia on the skin (in illnesses like leukaemia. Is petechial gastritis explained by the acid reflux, or is this more concerning?
They have done some biopsies also, so we need to wait for those results, and we have a further follow up appointment in September.
Im just getting myself into a flap. I don’t speak the native language here so a translator was used and I’m just not sure I’ve got the full story.
Any knowledge/advice is much appreciated.
Will also try to speak with my GP for some clarity but I just don’t want to needlessly worry until then, if this is all perfectly fine.
