How the hell do i renew my driving licence?

I moved house recently and even though I set up a redirect, not all of my post has been reaching me. I've just realised my driving licence photo is out of date as well as neesing to update my address. I'm assuming the letter is in the redirect limbo so don't have it. Tried to update it online with no luck because "computer says no" basically (aka it tells me it can't be done but not why- i suspect it's because I don't have a passport!)

Tried the local post office that does them to be told they can't help and I need to do it online.

Is it worth ringing them? What else can I try? I'm incredibly frustrated with the entire thing!

I did this. I tired for a month. Then gave up. Tried again 3 months later and it worked first time. Weird!

I renewed mine last week. I'd was in hospital when the renewal form came & it got misplaced. I went to a large post-office with my licence, the counter assistant took my photo and filled out all the details on an online form and then took the licence to send to DVLA. It cost £21, including £4.50 for the PO to take the photo.

It took about 5 minutes. Not all POs will do this, I found my nearest one on the PO website under a section about renewing a driving licence.

I had to renew my license and change my name, address and photo all at once!! Had to fill out a physical D1 form and pay £17 - arrived within two weeks. I tweeted the DVLA asking at the time and they said you can’t do it online, has to be a manual form.

I ordered a form yesterday so hopefully it arrives soon.

It was a proper post office - i even checked the address online before going in!

I don’t have a passport so I had to get a form from the PO and send it off with a cheque (who has a cheque book these days!) or a postal order (extra money)
I argued with the dvla about it and why I couldn’t pay by card but they weren’t having any of it!

I tried for ages over past few months, in end I replaced my expired passport and got it done on line in a few minutes.

It’s an absolute pain in the arse, I don’t have a valid passport either. This may have already been mentioned but I ordered a ‘D1’ form which arrived in the post, I filled this out, attached my photo, had to do a postal order at the PO as from my understanding, it was cheque or postal order only 🤯 was £17 (to be paid to DVLA) but the post office added a £2+ charge for the order. Sent it over a week ago, not heard anything back yet but they did say that it could take 3 weeks so no surprise there!

I don’t really understand why the process has to be so complicated!

Wouldn't accept my passport on line either. I had to get a set of photos done and send form off by post.
